Birthday Parties, Birthday Cakes and Our New Best Friend...

This past Wednesday was Logan's 6th birthday. It is hard to believe that six years can go by so quickly!! Logan is soft-hearted and such a little snuggle bug. He is in kindergarten this year and learning how to read. His teacher Mrs. W said she wishes she had 20 kids with Logan's laid back personality and willingness to always help! :) Hearing that makes a mama proud!

On Wednesday evening we had Grandpa and Lisa over for dinner. Logan asked for macaroni and cheese for his birthday dinner. I knew I couldn't make Kraft mac n' cheese so I looked up a recipe for a mac n' cheese bake. I was so excited to make it...I gathered all of my ingredients and then realized I had got the wrong type of breadcrumbs. So, instead I put chips on the top to give it the crispiness it was supposed to have...

One thing...when Logan saw the Mac n' Cheese on the table he asked what was on the top of it. When I told him chips his response was...but, Mom, I asked for Mac N' Cheese. NOT Mac n' Cheese with chips. He didn't quite get why I had chips on there.

One little guy with a lot of energy and love!!!
Logan also asked for an army cake. I could not find one that I liked and I had pretty much given up on getting him one. I was talking to Kevin and he said not to worry about it...he had it under control! This is what he came up with...
I was so happy!! He also made Logan's day...Logan LOVED it!!

Our little family of 4 - November 25, 2009

Logan loved his gift from Grandpa and Lisa...a John Deere pocket watch!!

Logan had a few of his buddies over a couple of weeks ago...they all had so much fun. Honestly, I wish I would have been able to record some of their conversations...they made me laugh out loud!

Opening presents....

Lego's from Ethan!

Nerf gun from Jacob!!! I am still picking up these crazy "arrows" in the family room. :)
We didn't get a picture of Nathan's gift...it was a Wii game. Logan loves his Wii games!!

They were playing good guys/bad guys when we did the cake.
The boys had a blast and I heard Ethan say that it was the best day ever. What a cutie!

Our New Best Friend
We had been talking about getting a boxer for a couple of weeks when one showed up at the local dog pound. Kevin went over to see him first and then called me because he was pretty sure it was exactly what we were looking for. Later that night Kevin brought Diesel home with us and I headed to Wal Mart for the basic dog "stuff" since we had NOTHING!
Diesel is a 2.5 year old Boxer and is PERFECT for our family. He knows basic commands such as sit, paw, roll over, shake, fetch and so on. He lets us know when he needs to go out and does not jump up nor does he bark. He was very under weight when he came to our house and we are slowly fattening him up. ;)
I am not a dog person, but he has stolen my heart. It is also nice when I am home late at night and Kevin is at class. I have a companion.

Giving me his paw.

Looks like a good guard dog, doesn't he?

He is a big softie. Lisa told me that he has an old man's soul...he is such a good boy!!!

Wow, you've had an eventful few weeks! (By the way, I'm positive you could have used regular breadcrumbs instead of panko for the mac-n-cheese. It seems that panko are better for coating/frying things but other than that I've not seen much difference.)

Looks like Logan had quite the fun birthday celebrations! GREAT army cake too. Very creative!
