4th of July fun.....

We had somewhat of a busy 4th of July. It wasn't meant to be that busy, but by the end of the day when I finally got to see Kevin we realized we jam packed our day! While we were walking home from the fireworks Victoria mentioned to me that it was the best 4th of July ever! :) I would have to agree with her! We did have fun and enjoyed our jam packed day of festivities.

Our day started at 6:30 AM. I had to be at the school to register for the 5k! It was a great experience and I am looking forward to my next race later this month! While I was walking to where we would be starting I saw three of my friends that came to cheer me on! Thank you Julie, Joanna and Tancy. It meant so much to have you there. Kevin also woke the kids up and brought them down too. I was almost in tears as the race started and my kids were there waving at me. It felt so good! I have to say a HUGE thank you to my husband! If it were not for him I would never have been able to do this. He was always encouraging me to take the time to go out for a run. Thanks, Kevin!!! :)

After the race we headed home while Kevin headed to the fire station to prepare for the parade. The kids were so EXCITED to see daddy in the parade.

I surprised the kids and decorated their scooters the night before. They LOVED it and I must say I was happy with the way they turned out! The kids looked so cute riding all over our little town yesterday.

It was so hot and humid as we waited for the parade. Thank goodness for the little breeze that made its way around us every once and awhile.

Here comes daddy and the rest of his department!!

So proud of you, Kevin!!! The kids were so excited to see daddy and of course they got a little extra candy from the fire fighters! ;) Those guys are so kind to our children!!

While the parade was still going on Kevin came down to see us and check up on us for a bit. It was so hot out and he said that a lot of people were having difficulty with the heat.

After the parade there is always a "bed race" between the fire fighters and the police officers. The last 3 years the fire fighters have won...

The firefighters had to race in full gear...I couldn't imagine fighting a fire in what they wear. They were hurting afterwards but they WON!!! :)

After the parade and race Kevin had 2 softball games. We had a picnic to go to and we were also able to go to the festival. The kids were so excited for the fireworks of course too! :)

What a great day we had with family and friends! The kids had a blast and did so well with the heat and humidity! What a great family day we had!! Now to enjoy the rest of July and August...then back to school.....BUT we aren't thinking about that yet. :)
