A few weeks ago, after church, we headed over to one of the local fire departments for the open house they were having. (imagine that) ;) When we got there I realized that I FORGOT my camera. I was so disappointed. Thankfully I had my phone and was able to snap a couple of pictures with it. The kids had so much fun. Of course, I just love watching Logan's face LIGHT up anytime he is around anything that has to do with a fire station. He adores his daddy and I just can't explain the feeling I get when as I listen to the two of them talk about fires and "stuff" as Logan refers to it.
While we were at the open house the kids were able to ride big ladder truck all the way up!! They loved it!! Me....I wouldn't get caught going up there if my life depended on it.

The kids had a blast that day and did not want to go home. They got to ride the old antique fire engine, go through a pretend house that was on fire and got lots of free stuff!

This last week the Victoria and Logan brought home report cards. I laughed when I saw Victoria's report card. I am pretty sure 24 years ago my 3rd grade report card was the exact same....especially when it comes to "must work on controlling talking" :) Her grades were awesome though and I was so proud of her. She works so hard each night to complete her spelling, reading and math. She is a perfectionist and does not like being wrong. Everything has to be just so. She has also been working hard on her piano. I can see her enjoying it more and more. I attribute that to her teacher....who is WONDERFUL!! Victoria will actually work on her piano pieces each morning before the bus comes and then again in the evening. Her and I are even working on a duet piece for Christmas! I can't wait!! :)
Logan also has been excelling in school. He loves his classroom and absolutely loves his teacher. I attended parent/teacher conferences last week and his teacher mentioned that, "Logan is one of the only boys in the class that I can assign something to and know that it is going to GET DONE!" That makes me so proud to hear. His favorite subject is math and you can tell! Now reading on the other hand...he rolls his eyes each night when I tell him it is reading time. :)
I know that most of you out there don't care how my children are doing in school, but I know the grandparents, aunts and uncles always want to know.
My children are growing up SO fast right before my very eyes. They have developed these personalities that blow me away sometime. I mean lets face it....they are far from perfect, but I see a side of them that no one else sees. They mean the world to me and I am thankful for each imperfection they have but I am also GRATEFUL for the loving, kind, generous, caring and thankful spirits that they have. They teach me something each and every day...and I love that about them!!!
